Sam Gandy

I have a lifelong interest in nature and wildlife. I graduated with a BSc in Physical Geography at the University of Leicester in 2010 and have an MRes in Entomology from Imperial College London, from which I graduated in 2011. I have been very fortunate in that research has taken me to such diverse places such as Peru, Greece, Spain, Vietnam and Texas, working both independently and as part of a team. For my master’s dissertation project at Imperial I conducted research on termites in central Vietnam, and I feel very lucky to be able to persevere with research on termites at PhD level at the University of Aberdeen and James Hutton Institute. This past year I have worked at the University of Leicester as a Research Associate working on ecological river restoration. I am interested in scientific outreach and communication and have spoken at a number of festivals, schools, local radio and a conference.
